Promote events to existing customers

When to consider this playbook

If you have upcoming regional events that you are trying to get customers to attend, you can target customers in nearby geo's that would be likely to receive value out of the event. This is great for small events for target accounts or regional events hosted by user groups. This personalization helps you drive event attendees while ensuring new visitors continue to see conversion focused content and sign up as leads.

Data available to you

Mutiny identifies the visitor’s company through IP and matches it to your Salesforce records to identify existing customers. Alternatively, you can use our Segment integration or the Mutiny API to automatically pass your customer data to Mutiny. 

You can combine this data with Mutiny’s IP-based geo targeting to focus the audience to customers located near to where the event is happening.

How to personalize

Your customers are familiar with your website and more prone to ignore the content, so you need a unique way to grab their attention. One way you can do this is by adding a Mutiny banner or modal to your site. Another way to do this is to include their name in the headline.


Add a personalized banner to the top of your page promoting your event. Use the name of the contact, company or event location in the banner to grab their attention and let them know you want them to attend.

Top of fold

Change the headline on your page to pitch the event to your customer. Use their name or the company name to grab their attention. For example "Michael, join us at Amplify" or "Exclusive offer for WeWork: free ticket to Traverse" or "Karen, join our CMO dinner in San Francisco." If you hold many regional events, you can use Mutiny’s data as a variable to automatically fill in the location based on the customer’s location. 

Change your CTA name and link with Mutiny to send people to the right place once they click. 

If your customers don’t visit your website, you can email customers a fully personalized landing page inviting them to the event.
